A resident-produced 1950s variety show became an opportunity to showcase the creativity, dedication, and collaboration that define life at The Carlisle Naples. By highlighting the story behind the performance—including the cognitive and social benefits of learning lines and rehearsing together—The Ehlers Group secured earned media that showcased the community’s innovative programming.
Opportunity
Residents at The Carlisle Naples spent weeks rehearsing for a 1950s-themed variety show. We recognized an opportunity to tell a broader story about how creative programming supports social connection while encouraging memory, confidence, and continued mental engagement.
Strategy
Rather than promoting the performance itself, we developed a human-interest story centered on the residents’ journey from rehearsals to opening night. We incorporated the health benefits of memorizing lines, practicing choreography, and building friendships, then coordinated media outreach to position the story for local news coverage.
Results
The story was featured in Naples Press, highlighting how innovative programming fosters purpose, connection, and cognitive engagement while showcasing The Carlisle Naples’ commitment to meaningful resident experiences.
Why This Story Worked
Performances alone rarely generate media interest. By focusing on the residents’ preparation, the health benefits of creative engagement, and the relationships formed throughout the process, the story became relevant to a broader audience while authentically showcasing life within the community.
